Homework…

As I mentioned when discussing taking on my Level 2 Dutch class there would be more homework. I can still reach back into my student days to be organised enough to complete it. Time Management is one of my biggest life loves. I can organised the hell out of nothing let alone something as exciting as ‘homework’. I was a geek at school, I am a geek in life and thats something I’m happy with (LOL!).

I never objected that much to it at school but I do genuinely enjoy it as an adult. Here is my justification:

  1. Studying as an adult comes with the territory of homework. The entire process is technically homework so anybody who studies as an adult and claims to not like homework is a liar!
  2. You just happen to find time. Whilst the kettle is boiling, whilst watching crap TV on an evening, reread notes just happens, its something you have to do so you make time.
  3. I think studying as an adult means that you make up less excuses for not doing it.
  4. Its how you learn it. There is something different about homework set to you as a child, its irrelevant back then or just something a teacher gives you as punishment. When you’re studying as an adult you are learning a new skill you have actively sought out. It is different.

My homework for this week involves recapping Verbs, ‘t Kofschip and other forms of conjugation. I can’t say it is something I’m thrilled about spending time over but I’ve got until Wednesday to become a little more knowledgable with it. Its nothing new that I haven’t covered so thats the bonus. There are also a few chapters to read too; Chapters 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 and 14.

How do you stay motivated to study on top of your ‘normal’ life?

  1. Firstly thumbs up for geeks. They are the coolest type of people πŸ™‚
Secondly, I organise my life on a Sunday evening onto one big whiteboard (as you saw on instagram!) and I make sure I pencil in time for everything I want/need to get done. Language learning included. I’ve come up with a method as of this week that the first half of the week is French, and the second half is for Dutch – let’s see if it works πŸ™‚
Also… reading your blog keeps me motivated too πŸ™‚ X

    1. I love a woman with good organisation! I’m a diary freak. I thought your wipe board planning was fantastic! (Side note: as a self confessed list addict i’ve been looking into ‘bullet journaling’ have you seen it? Its on the back burner in my mind!)

Two languages on the go missy! Now that’s a skill worth showing off! I did French up to A Level, after being subjected to studying Le Gloire De Mon Pere (or however it was spelt) i was a little put off!

Keep up the good work! Veel geluk Charlene xx
